The upstream approach
Imagine a river with people keep floating downstream. It’s easy to focus on those in the water and try to save them from drowning. But at some point, we need to go upstream to understand why they are falling in the first place. By identifying and addressing the root causes, we can prevent them from falling in and ensure their long-term well-being.
Building a bridge
Traditional medicine and pharmaceutical treatments often focus on pulling these people out and addressing their immediate needs. It does not address how they got in the water to begin with. I believe in not just rescuing you from the water but building a bridge to keep you safe and healthy.
Dr. Elam was born in Tennessee and grew up with chiropractors in his family, but chiropractic was not his first career. He pursued a career in the golf industry after college and was a golf professional in Nashville for six years but did not get the enjoyment out of it he felt he should. At the urging of a member, he quit the golf business and went back to school at Logan University in St. Louis where he obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. After graduating he moved to Montana and practiced before missing friends and family in the south. He then worked for one of the top chiropractors in Georgia before opening Brevard Chiropractic & Functional Medicine.
When not at the office he enjoys golf, hiking, fly fishing and spending time with his wife and their four wonderfully weird dogs.
